Why Trade Matters To Everyone

The African continent is endowed with immense natural resources. Between 2002 and 2012, oil, metals and other mineral exports accounted for more than two-third of export growth in Africa; crude oil alone accounted for more than 50 per cent of Africa’s merchandise exports in 2012. Despite increase in the share of exports in the world market, the contribution the world’s trade remains at 2.6 per cent of total world share.
